For years, many families automatically thought of Walt Disney World when planning a Disney vacation, but Disney Cruise Line has become an incredible option to consider too, especially with more ships, new itineraries, and promotions available that we have not always seen in the past.
So which one is better? It really depends on your family.
Disney World is perfect for families who want the theme park experience. The rides, characters, shows, restaurants, and that “in the middle of the magic” feeling are hard to beat. But it also comes with a lot of decisions: where to stay, what tickets to buy, dining reservations, park strategies, Lightning Lanes, transportation, and making the most of your time. This option is perfect for families on the go.
A Disney Cruise brings the magic to you. Characters, Broadway-style shows, themed dining, kids clubs, activities, pools, and entertainment are all right there on the ship. There is still plenty to do, but the pace can feel a lot more relaxing.

One thing families with little ones should know: Disney Cruise Line is especially amazing once kids are potty trained because they can enjoy the included kids clubs and more water areas. Babies and toddlers can absolutely still have a magical trip (especially if they can participate in the famous Diaper Dash!), but some experiences may be limited and nursery care is an additional cost.
Worried about motion sickness? The right ship, itinerary, and stateroom location can make a big difference. Disney’s larger ships are designed with comfort in mind, and many families are surprised by how little they feel the movement.
The best Disney vacation is not the same for every family. Some families are theme park people. Some love the idea of unpacking once and letting the magic come to them.
My job is helping you find the right fit, whether that means choosing the perfect resort, cruise ship, itinerary, or experience for your family.
